A tuk tuk exits Angkor Thom through the South Gate. The numerous sites of the Angkor Complex are far too spread out to cover on foot. At a minimum, you will need a bicycle to see the most popular sites within a reasonable amount of time – impossible in a single day. Tuk tuks are also readily available for hire in Siem Reap, the gateway town to Angkor. However, if you have limited time to see Angkor and have not read about its history, we highly recommend using the services of a registered guide. Having them interpret the architecture and its significance for you makes for a far more meaningful experience. (Brian K. Smith photo | View slideshow)
