2012 Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival Opening Fireworks, Heilongjiang

Best wishes to you and yours for a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Rick Green and Brian K. Smith. We hope 2013 offers you new opportunities to broaden your horizons, enjoy memorable experiences, and make new international friends. Why take a trip when you can have an adventure?

Photo: Fireworks mark the official opening of the 2012 Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival on January 5. The largest winter festival in the world, it has a different theme each year. 2012's theme was the relationship between China and Russia. Temperatures in Harbin can drop as low as -38°C, so be sure to bring warm clothing and boots. (Brian K. Smith photo.)
